And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” (Revelation 14:13)
Although not a celebrated Sacrament, the final passing of one’s life is to be recognized and celebrated as a community. Together, we hope we can make this difficult and sad time as meaningful and peaceful as possible for the family and friends of a loved one.
A funeral Mass (with Eucharist) or Funeral Rite (without Eucharist) is celebrated for the family either with the body or with the cremains present. If neither is present, we offer a Memorial Mass or Rite for the family. Funeral or Memorial services can be celebrated at San Agustin during the weekdays and no later than 1pm on Saturdays (no funeral services are arranged on Sundays). Because we do not have a separate hall on our premises, we are unable to accommodate a reception here at San Austin but can offer suggestions for local venues.
If you are dealing with the passing of a loved one, please call our parish office to make arrangements for a funeral or memorial, 438-3633.
